The McGlynn Center, a safe and welcoming place for the children and youth who reside at the Boulevard Townhomes and Mineral Springs Village, is committed to service and education. The Center, whose main office is located at 72 Midland Ct. has been serving vulnerable children of Wilkes-Barre since 1988. The Center provides after-school tutoring, recreational and cultural activities in a safe environment at no cost to children who live at either Boulevard Townhomes or Mineral Springs Village. The McGlynn Center, which is a totally donation funded project, has a stellar record of service to Wilkes-Barre and to Luzerne County. During its 30 years of service, no child/youth attending the Learning Center has been involved with the Juvenile Justice System.
With a staff of three full-time employees, as well as a host of volunteers, the McGlynn Center serves about 150 children and youth each year. All children residing in these two low-income housing developments are eligible for service at the Center. |
